You have to remember with Indymedia to divide in three the number of police they say there were, and halve the number of activists. That site is more biased than Fox. On the weekend I was at the flat in Auckland where some of those arrested live, and I don't think most of them even know what they're fighting for, and the other half wouldn't know what to do if they actually achieved it. Running around the bushes with napalm bombs? WTF?

Arresting peace activists on weapons charges? Can anyone else see through this?Evil Priest: If I didn't want a gun before now, I think I need one now. Cops can't arrest you for no reason if they are dead. This is bullshit.

Its the interweb, and that was sarcasm. To a point. Notice the NEED not WANT. If in the future I'm going to get fucked over for these 'crimes' solely because of my political/social views then I might as well accually follow through with it. If I'm going to rot in jail I want to earn it. The people I know involved in this certainly didn't.

Bwahahaha. Indymedia is so classic. They managed to juxtapose a story "Weapons Conference Delegates Cannot Escape Resistance!", decrying weapons manufacturers as "war mongers!" and the great evil in the world, and interrupting their conference as a great victory for humanity. And then in the very same breath, they savage the police for arresting people on firearms charges. The same people who keep said arms manufacturers in business. Loltastic.
You only love four because you havnt listened to enough 7. I know you havnt listened to enough because you dont like it yet. |

Quote I was at the Duxton on a course when the "weapons conference" was there. The 12 or so "peace activists" chanted until the TV3 crew had gone then went home at about 10am. It's a defense **logistics** conference, that means it consists of Fisher and Paykel and Watties trying to sell jumbo freezers and catering packs of baked beans to the evil imperialist NZ Army. They moved it from Te Papa because the peace activists took advantage of Te Papa's large carpark to stake out good pozzies from which to throw shit at the evil Hallibuton-supporting right wing warmongering uniformed museum staff.

Quote Way to know nothing about what houses have been raided and who has been arrested. This is very much an issue that effects all activists in NZ, whether or not they are assosiated with Tino Rangatiratanga.

Yeah, the only reason it looks mainly like a Treaty issue is because that is the only card Tame Iti's lawyer can play and she's loving the media time. Seemed like far more environmentalists have been arrested than Maori Rights Activists so far, but guess we'll know more when name suppression lifts. Or next cock up is exposed (police OR activist cock up that is).

This is very much an issue that effects all activists in NZ, whether or not they are assosiated with Tino Rangatiratanga. I imagine the police have used terrorism law to detain anyone vaguely associated (you know who) and are fishing for information about the core group, which may or may not be as subversive as speculated. pm me any updates

Quote I dont know enough about this to make an informed comment, and I don't want to belittle any sort of right/wrong sovereignty claims but the following is a fact..................my old barber in Wales was called Tino. 'Short for the Sportsman' every time. Tino had a pic of Joe Strummer up in the shop, as he used to go there for a trim when he was in Newport Art college apparently. Also, Im not sure how good Napalm is for the environment, But I'll hedge my bets here and say 'not very'. Way to go tree huggers!

Anyone else bothered that people with "differing motivations" were training together because they were brought together in harmony by their common urge to play with guns?Quote http://www.nzherald.co.nz/feature/story.cfm?c_id=1501470&objectid=10470120 Translation: Schizos who don't like taking their pills will cling to any old "cause" to justify the resultant violent urges and massive persecution complexes.

What is happening in Tuhoe rohe has zilch to do with white kids in Auckland. While the two might be getting confused by both the police and the media at the moment, the issues are separate. I've got a lot more sympathy for a community which has zero govt investment, zero infrastructure, huge unemployment, massive mental health and addiction issues and is periodically terrorised by the police than I do for a bunch of drama queen 'activists' who were idiotic enough to play with guns in the city.

All you cunts should shut up until you get more information - just accept that me and Ricky know more about it than you. This is bad. It will have huge repercussions for all leftist/anarchistic social movements in NZ for years to come. Tama Iti is just the highest profile case, its not just about the Maori Sovereignty movement. In the meantime: Think. 1) Why do enviromental activists want to use Napalm - a defoliant agent? 2) Why are Peace Activists playing with guns? 3) Why a Maori Activists criminals and terrorists because we have been fucking them over for 200 years?
